Additional

The painter, graphic artist and designer Emil Orlik studied under H. Knirr, W. Lindenschmit and J.L. Raab at the Munich Academy. In 1899 he became a member of the Vienna Secession and embarked on a succession of journeys which brought him to England and notably to Japan (1900-01) where he fell under the influence of Japanese prints and studied their technique closely. Back in Europe Orlik setled in Vienna in 1903. In 1905 he moved to Berlin and became a member of the Berlin Secession in 1908. From 1905 to 1932 he taught at the Teaching Institute of the Berlin Museum of Applied Art and its successor, The United State Schools.
